Occupational Therapy Services to Children 6-18 years

St. Josephs Foundation Occupational Therapists provide a service to children 6-18 years who attend the Holy Family School, Charleville and mainstream schools.

Occupational therapists work collaboratively with family, school staff and other members of the school age team to understand challenges that a child may have that impacts their educational performance and their ability to benefit from their education program. The occupational therapy process involves the assessment of a child’s motor skills, sensory processing, and their individual skills and strengths in key areas.

The assessment process takes place across the home, educational and recreational environments.

Within the school environment Occupational Therapy interventions can be directly with an individual child or with a group of children.

Occupational therapists use specific therapeutic activities to improve skills and they can also provide equipment to enable a child to work to their full potential.
